1. Delulu
“Delulu” is a word that became popular this year because of social media. Mostly Tiktok. Delulu means delusional in short terms. A lot of girls refer to themselves as “Delulu” because of a boy. For example, “I’m so delulu over Jacob Elordi”. People use it to refer to fans who get over-obsessed with celebrities, fictional characters, or unrealistic scenarios.
2. Beige Flag
“Beige flag” is a phrase people refer to when describing another person’s quarks or specific aspects of their personality. It’s not a “green flag” or a “red flag”. It’s in the middle. It can be interpreted as a good thing or a bad thing. For example, “Her beige flag is that she likes Taylor Swift.”
3. Rizz
“Rizz” is a word used to describe someone’s “game” or ability to charm or flirt. It’s often used to describe someone who can easily win over a person and smooth talk. This word has become popular due to TikTok. It’s a slang word. It’s a silly term that most middle school boys like to use. For example, “Dang bro! you have rizz, with Tyler Simcov.”
4. Doomscrolling
Doomscrolling refers to when someone is endlessly scrolling through negative media or just scrolling on their phone with no thought behind it. It’s like getting sucked into an endless spiral of bad news where the more you scroll the worse you feel. It can also be referred to when scrolling on social media rather than doing important things.
5. Mid
“Mid” is another describing word. It is often used to rate something average or not impressive. It’s short for Mediocre. For example, if someone describes a movie as “mid” it means the movie wasn’t that good. People use it to quickly dismiss something that don’t stand out or that aren’t worth the hype.
6. Skibidi
“Skibidi” originated from a viral song by the Russian band Little Big, and became a popular trend on YouTube shorts. The word itself doesn’t have a specific meaning. But it’s used when kids are being silly amongst each other and when fooling around they may throw the word skibidi in there.
7. Ate
Ate is a word that has been around since the beginning of time. It’s the past tense of the word Eat. But it has an alternative meaning that kids started using recently. “Ate” is used when referring to when someone for example is wearing a nice outfit. “Your outfit ate”. It’s used to praise someone.
8. Yapping
“Yapper” is a word often used to describe me lol. It’s used when someone talks a lot in an excessive or annoying way. I can be used when someone just talks too much. While it’s often lighthearted, it can imply someone is more focused on talking than listening. For example, “I’m such a yapper.” It’s the new version of the word “Chatterbox”.
